Tesla Coil Lightning, Apr 21, 2020, Penang, Malaysia – I called this one Tesla coil because it looks like one of those apparatus you see in science centres that produces mini lightning bolts from its central core. Is that science imitating nature or nature imitating science?
Speaking of lightning, its been a wild couple of days for lightning here. On Wed night, there were storms to the west and all I captured were tiny bolts between the buildings. I shared one of the pictures with a friend here and she couldn't find the bolt, they are that big.
Last night was crazy with storms covering from the NW to East. Unfortunately, cloud was blocking most of the lightning so there was lots of flashing but very few bolts. I setup the camera and took 100 shots or so but only ended up a handful of so-so shots. Very frustrating. To make matters worse, I was woken up around midnight with a clap of thunders that shock the windowpanes. There were intense flashes of lightning lighting up the bedrooms through the blackout drapes. I dragged myself out of bed only to find it was pissing down with rain so no middle of the night lightning shots. I was kept awake for another hour as the storm raged on. I had to wake up at 5AM this morning to get ready for our first serious hike in months only to discover it was still raining so no hiking and back to doing our regular lockdown route. #cloudlovers #cloudphotography #clouds #cloudscapes #cloudsofinstagram #extremeweather #ig_stormclouds #igworldclub_sky #lightning #lightningphotography #lightningstorm #lightningstormclub #lightningstrike #meteo #meteorology #skyscapes #storm_scape #stormchaser #stormchasing #stormclouds #stormhour #storms #stormyweather #thunderstorm #weather #weatherphotography #raw_skies #lightningmafia
