This is not a #throwbackthursday nor a #flashbackfriday its a #sooncomesaturday
(I think I'm liking this...the #creation of new #hashtag )
I am finally acclimated back to the life here in the north, coming from an intense few weeks in my native lands of the Greater Antilles nka the Caribbean.
I had the honor and privilege of running as apart of a group of native peoples from all over the world. Representing for the International Peace & Dignity Journey. Thus far in 2020 I have been apart of 2 teams of runners on the islands of Boriken and Yamayeka. There will be an East Coast run from NY--->Florida and then a main run in Equador/Mexico.
This run is a #prayer and a reaffirmation of indigenous culture across the 2 landmasses of the North and South. When we run we are called to the land to pray our prayers (in our original languages), serve our communities (Story telling, healing, nutrition, physiotherapy, construction, song, archiving and conduct ceremonies), honor our ancestors (visiting sacred sites, demonstrating, protesting, running their routes, exploring their caves and undiscovered catacombs) , to commune with the elements and animal guardians (Iguana, Camey, Carey, Manatee, Guarajo, Mukaro, Kolibri, Guaraguao, Awra, Juey) that resiliently continue to be stuarts of the land.
I will be sharing more about the run and some of the #sacred sites (some of which will not be named to protect the land and the guardians who protect them), as I can. This year's #run will be a part of a major motion picture and a lot of footage is being protected for many special reasons.
In this reunion and re-memberance of our ancestral #beauty I am called to express love to many brothers and sisters, brothers and sisters that I had not known I had until recently. The whispers of our ancestors are the very rhythms beating in our chest; how couldn't we create #music when we resonate in stride, on dirt paths scaling mountains and splashing in virgin rivers.#love to all the #family extensions doing the work for the 7 generations before and the 7 generations after. We are together. Let us continue to rise and safeguard our #culture with good work, in a good way.
