I am raising goddess worshippers. They are ferocious cubs. I, their lioness. Thank Goddess these children were born to us... because they are intense, push every button, are unrelenting, forceful, passionate, feral. In my experience the most peaceful parents birth the most insane children! Maybe it’s the Mama milk that makes them so purely confident in their emotions and expression! Their emotional intelligence astounds me. And they are so secure in their love that they can be so completely perfectly imperfect and know they will be loved.
These wild ones each nursed for 3.5 years! One still going. Exclusive Breast Milk for each for 12 months, save for their first food rituals around 9 months. They simply were not interested in anything but the divine goddess nectar until they were each a year old. I nursed the first while pregnant with the second. Thank goodness for Ayurvedic food and rejuvenating yoga, foods, massage, TCM and herbs! Thank Goddess for ghee, dates, coconut, cashews.
We never bottle fed. For me, it was psychologically unappealing, and my body wouldn’t respond to pumping. I could only produce milk for direct human consumption! That means I was never away from my children for a few hours, or a day.
There is no one perfect way to do this. There is just the way we find within our own families, villages and cultures.
May all children be blessed with this divine nectar. May all women be supported to supply it. And when not possible, may mothers and children imbibe of all the many alternatives to this nectar in the form of love, cuddles, plants, herbs, foods... Mother goddess provides nectar in many forms. May the adoptive children and parents, separated mothers and children, and women and children who struggle to breastfeed for various reasons have support find their own forms of mothers nectar... she provides many.
Happy breastfeeding week.
