Last week my dog made a new friend, her name’s Billie, and while Bonnie and Billie made besties, I got chatting to her ”dad”, a man I’d never met before about the fashion industry.
After a few questions like “Has COVID affected your work”? and the typical backstory of our fur babies, he asked me what I believe fashion for professionals will look in the future... Now, I am NOT a fashion forecaster but I believe a few things are going to change soon... Firstly, I hope, and perceive that a percentage of people will be in a position to negotiate a role where they either remain working from home or will do so more than pre-COVID and this will significantly impact future purchases and style choices... Which consequently as we can already see... an influx and consistent release of lush loungewear.
However, if you’re a professional or entrepreneur who wants to gain or maintain a competitive edge; landing business deals, collabs, sales pitches, running large team's etc; it is vital you do not drop the ball on dressing sharp when you are building relationships and selling because first impressions still count and loungewear is not going to cut it! I don’t care how comfortable and amazing its been to turn up to the home office in your towel (this is a direct jab at my husband! 🙃) There will always maintain a space for luxury, and we will hopefully see a shift in purchase and production in Australia supporting local.
Now, I’ve decided to pop up a very unqualified fashion forecast, Swipe to see!! How do you feel in your profession about what you wear at home vs the workplace? I’d love to hear your comments below 👇🏼
