We understand that the Novel Covid 19 pandemic upended everyone’s life and activities, most especially young children in schools. This is evidenced in the World Economic Forum report (2020) that over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom. As a result of this pandemic, education has changed significantly with the unique rise of Online Learning.
My friends and I had a conversation on the several reasons why children should be part of online learning during the lockdown. We came to the conclusion that online learning, is gradually seen as a new paradigm in education and it is the way forward.
This is the truth, however, in a society like Nigeria, there are some schools who cannot afford this new paradigm now.
That is why Elladav Treasures Foundation decided to run a free Online Tutoring with Dr. Sarah Osakwe and her amazing team, consisting of teachers in top schools in Lagos, UK and America for five weeks in order to cushion or close the educational gaps in these children.
Considering the importance of a child’s educational foundation, we focused on children between ages 5 to 10 years. They were all taught Math, English, Art & Craft, Coding, Entrepreneurship and were also exposed to various Character Traits children should imbibe.
I would like to personally thank my team members for volunteering their time, intellect, energy, and other resources in making this project a huge success.
