Norman the Dog (Network Engineer?) This is Norman, as you can see he’s a dog, however last week Norman thought that he would like to be a Network Engineer for the day. (A rather destructive Network Engineer at that!). Norman decided that he’d like to help his owner by carrying out some maintenance work on the home network, unfortunately Norman’s idea of maintenance is chewing through one of the exterior cables taking out part of the network.
The Internet is now considered to be the fourth Utility Service, so loss of Internet connectivity is a home crisis especially with children still off school, although on a serious note our client runs his business from his Home Office so this was definitely an emergency.
We were able to remove the damaged cable and install a replacement inside black round conduit to match the exterior of the house and protect the new cable, making it aesthetically pleasing and pooch proof.
We then tested the new cable using our IDEAL VDV 2 PRO network tester and re-terminated a couple of dubious looking RJ45s connectors elsewhere on the network while we were there.
All is now well, the Internet is restored, children are happy, Norman is in the Doghouse!
Thanks for your help Norman but stick to the day job! 🐶
