Taking a break from the travel images for the next few days. This one’s from earlier today. We had family friends over and they have two children, a 2 year old boy and a 7 year old girl. This image may depict Ilyana (on the left) and the 7 year old girl getting along, but that wasn’t really the case initially 😬 Since Ilyana’s the only child and doesn’t get a chance to interact with a lot of kids on the daily, she is not used to sharing her things. As soon as the other kids picked something to play, she immediately ran to them and took the toy away. I was constantly enforcing the idea of sharing but I could see that it was frustrating her. So what I did instead was leave the kids by themselves in Ilyana’s room (I was obviously eyeing them constantly) and told the 7 year old girl to play with Ilyana and ask her to share and take turns.
Fortunately this worked and after a while I saw the girls getting along. The 2 year old boy was really shy and didn’t really want to play so he stuck by his mom. What I learned from this experience is that sometimes it’s better to let kids communicate with each other to bring a point across. They may demonstrate a better understanding and be able to relate to each other more than they could with an adult authority figure. I know my daughter’s ability to share will strengthen as she goes to more classes and interacts with kids, and I also know this is the typical behavior of a 2 year old, but to witness such communication and understanding between the little ones was just astounding. (p.s. that’s not a real dog in the pic, it’s Ilyana’s stuffed dog that she named Jasmine 😂😊) #blogger #lifestyleblogger #mommyblogger #motherhood #picoftheday #instagram #instadaily #livethelittlethings #bloggers #photooftheday #instablog #mylittlegirl #mommysprincess #alhumdullilah #kidsgettingalong #love #mybaby #motherhood
