Happy #globalrunningday 2020 🎉
Running, for me, changed my life. I ran semi-competitively when I was younger, but I didn’t have the passion or the respect for the sport like I do now.
I was asked in an interview for the @newbalancerunning @londonmarathon campaign what running meant to me, and my answer was simple: it’s everything. It’s the chance to be outdoors; a momentary freedom from whatever might be happening in your life; a few miles to grind out some anger, or to revel in pure joy; a way to socialise and gain confidence; to step out of your comfort zone and see just how far you can push yourself. In the words of the 🐐 @kipchogeeliud , ‘no human is limited’
Running has afforded me so many opportunities. It’s benefited my mental health in more ways than I can count, I’ve made some very close friends and relationships, learned that I can break through barriers I thought I’d never overcome.
Importantly, it’s shown me to be compassionate. We’re all doing this thing we do - we run. We’re all on our own journey, battling our own races and goals. But we are a community that pulls together, who picks each other up when we’re down.
So, tomorrow is another day. We’ll probably bank some more miles, if you’re like me you’ll side-eye your foam roller and pretend you haven’t seen it, give some kudos on Strava and GET. IT. DONE.@teamprojectrun @newbalance
