How can you not do a cheesey jump pic when you make it to a 5000m high glacier lake?
Also, I'm glad I made it to these kinds of places before climate change really wreaks havoc. A lot of glacial lakes are rapidly increasing in size due to faster glacier melt; this is causing a lot of problems to communities and ecosystems further down the line for example due to flooding and habitat destruction. Conversely, retreating glaciers in other seasons also cause droughts and crop failures in several places. Billions (yes, billions) of people rely on glacial water for drinking, agriculture, and various other purposes, and so billions of lives and livelihoods are threatened due to climate change.
Clearly, human-driven climate change is destroying the the world for humans and other organisms alike. It affects the most vulnerable the most severely, whilst being worsened by the least vulnerable.
We need to work together and make positive changes to not only conserve and preserve these beautiful places, but also to ensure a liveable world for all beings now and in the future. Whilst governments and corporations can make the biggest differences (and we need to apply pressure on them to do so), some of the easiest changes are at an individual level. One of the best ways is by significantly reducing meat and dairy consumption if it is within our means to do so. Flying less is another significant option.
I personally have made a resolution to massively reduce my air transport use, and will continue to offset my carbon emissions by planting trees, donating to @greenpopsa , and supporting missions like @chooosetoday , which invest your money in carbon drawdown/green projects.
