Whelp, I am back in bed. Here’s the update. After I finished the round of steroids on Sunday, I was feeling pretty good. Monday I was feeling okay, so I started to get back to normal life. And of course, that’s when things started to go downhill. By Tuesday, breathing was difficult. And today, I woke up struggling to catch my breath. After walking upstairs, I felt like I had run a marathon. I found myself gasping for breath. It felt like even though I was breathing, no oxygen was coming in.
So, after a call to my doctor, they brought me to the hospital. Long story short- I now have severe bronchitis (most likely as a result of the virus). They found that I am not absorbing oxygen- which is scary. So I have to stay home and stay still, to give my body the most access to oxygen possible, until the antibiotics begin to work (hopefully in 48 hours). I am now back home, resting and recovering. I continue to share my story, because there are people out there who are STILL not taking proper precautions, thinking that this can’t happen to them.
I am lucky to have started all this with strong lungs. Not everyone else is so lucky.
We need to protect ourselves, the people we love, and the people who we don’t even know from this virus. My body has taken such a beating, it might take a few months for me to recover. So please, stay home, stay healthy, stay safe.
