Following the government announcements this week, they have allowed food markets to carry on for the time being as they form part of the essential services group of businesses. Therefore we WILL be opening our farmers market tomorrow. However, we will be putting in some stringent new restrictions in order to comply with guidance on social distancing.
We will therefore be operating a closed gate policy whereby only 30 people will be allowed in the market at any one time. This should allow plenty of space for customers to keep their distance. There will be an ‘IN’ gate on the left as you look at the market and the ‘OUT’ gate will be on the right as you look at the market. Both these gates will be manned. We will also have someone managing the queue outside to make sure 2m distancing is happening. We will be providing customers with disposable gloves on entering the market. All stallholders take contactless as a payment method so wherever possible, please using this method. The market gates will open at 9am to try and stagger the queue further. All stalls are fully aware of their own impeccable food hygiene standards that need to be observed even more so during this current crisis. We know we are an important part of many locals weekly food shop and we hope to be able to continue coming, but we will reassess every week to make sure we can operate in a safe environment.
Please don’t bring children unless you absolutely have to
Please try and buy for any elderly or those you know in social isolation that you know of. Our small independent producers, farmers and growers rely on your business and we really appreciate your support week in week out and in these uncertain times, we appreciate it even more. If you can make it tomorrow, we look forward to seeing you, 2 m apart anyway! #barnes #barnesfarmersmarket #2mapartatalltimes #freshfood #buylocal
