I had the honor to stand on the side of the road and make sure fellow Coloradoans know people in this community do not support the murder of American citizens. It might not be much, and I did not go to Downtown Denver to get shot with teargas and pepper pellets, but I did support a nonviolent protest happening in my area.
I typically try to keep my page upbeat and apolitical, but I cannot be silent on this matter. It has happened before, but it should never happen again. Police should be held to the same standard as everyone else. Rich people should be held to the same standard as poor people. This is not an issue of race, or color, or religion or gender or occupation. All of those ways to put people in a group should not matter, but far too often they do. The same laws should apply to everyone from the President to an immigrant with one foot on American soil.
I am still optimistic that this will change. I am hopeful for the future and the changes the protests will bring. I do not support violence to fight for that change, but I support the right to peacefully live and gather. I support the American Dream for every person in the world, even if they do not live in this country.
This is not political, this is Human. I do have an agenda by posting this. I hope I do not need to post again about this, but I will if there is a need. I hope my words inspire at least one other person to organize or join a small nonviolent protest. Be vocal, call your representative, call your mayor, call your police chief. While the message is not political, the solution is. Get out and vote for someone who cares for everyone, not just those in power.
