One of the first times I remember jumping with excitement as I saw this scene coming together. My friend and I climbed down a huge cliffside to get to this beach for sunset. I climbed down with the idea of getting a long exposure of the waves and the bridge in the background. The sun was getting lower on the horizon, and the light was beautifully soft and warm. I had gotten the shot I came for and was enjoying the view when I heard my friend yelling at me! I scrambled over some rocks to try and find her to see why she was screaming. As I climbed over the rocks and looked up, I was in shock to see a baby seal sitting on the bottom of the rock in front of me! I immediately slowed my movement and edged closer to the rock getting into position to get the shot. As I moved closer, the seal started moving up the rock towards the top. Standing still now, trying not to spook him, I waited and watched as this little guy scooted up the rock. He reached the top right as the sun was hitting the horizon, the light was perfect, and for about 30 seconds, he struck a pose as if he knew he was going to be the star of my photo. Never have I had so many things fall into place this spectacularly. I had gotten the shot, and just as quickly as it had all come together, the scene dissolved, the light faded away, the seal climbed off the rock, and it was gone forever.
